Knowing our distortions | MEMENTO VIVERE Episode 16

A distortion is the act of twisting or altering something out of its true, natural, or original state. The distortions we will talk about are lying, cheating, stealing, taking unfair advantage and all the other wrong actions we are capable of doing towards each other and ourselves.

It is often difficult to recognize our own distortions since they have been ancred in ourselves for many years, often since an early age.  We get attached to not only our distortions which don’t allow ourselves to properly think, but we also accumulate new ones.

Sometimes we think that in order to correct our distortions we will have less freedom of action and won’t find any satisfaction in doing what is right, correct and moral. We will leave this worry behind us by realising that right choices can only happen by removing our distortions. This is how we will be able to fully use our faculties, which will give us the tools to use reason and intelligence in any situation.
When we protect our distortions we are incapable of understanding and accepting the principle of absolute right. We even become upset that such a principle can exist. Our distortions are the cause of this denial.

Each of us can protect themselves and stop to install new distortions in their conscious mind. When a new moral choice comes to us, we all have a brain and a conscience to face it. By using the principle of absolute right, we are able to resist temptation and correct our distortions. It is by taking the chance to correct ourselves in the same moment we are facing temptation that we will be able to get rid of our distortions.

Here, when we mention what is « right », we talk about what is correct and moral. When we mention what is « wrong », we talk about what is incorrect and immoral. I invite you to watch the episode 4 of this video series if this is not clear to you. You will find the link in the description of this video and in the Playlist section.

Let’s go back to our distortions. Once the correction processus has started, surprises will appear. Indeed, now that we have aligned our behaviour with what is right, correct and moral, we will be able to receive the benefits of this alignment.
In other words, we have aligned our behaviour with Natural Law and we are receiving the results of our actions.

It is crucial to understand the objective difference between right and wrong, between what is moral and immoral, in order to remove our distortions.
