She played many roles depicting sexual promiscuity, abortion, divorce & the idolization of fame & prestige. She eventually became reclusive & turned down many key roles. She remains one of the most enigmatic & elusive Hollywood stars. Somehow forgotten in our modern age, maybe that was her intent.
